My sales for the first month of being open were amazing and have really given me the confidence I needed as an entrepreneur and business woman! This past month has challenged me in ways I never thought possible. I look back and wonder sometimes how I managed to persevere.
I am so grateful for the love and support for my small business from my loyal customer base, friends, neighbours, family and new comers just learning who I am and what I have to offer here at Love me long time Boutique.
The boutique is all about loving your clothing for a long time whether that be shopping consignment and reducing waste, saving a buck and finding that one item that fits you just right, to the new, highly sustainable products that will last you and become staple pieces of your wardrobe! Long love your clothing ladies!
Recently it was brought to my attention that my business name may offend people due to the "Love me long time" portion being in an inappropriate song many years ago. I do not know this song nor did I ever believe that this saying originated from this song. I did however learn the saying from a song by Fergie that I used to sing with my friends. We used to say to each other, "Love you long time" instead of "I love you". We found it cool back then haha! When I was trying to find a business name that represented me and what I wanted my customers to think of when they read my business name, I thought of loving your clothing for a long time...then I thought of Love me long time instead of Love you long time. That is the origin of the boutique and the name behind it :)
If I in any way have offended anyone that was never my intent. I believe strongly that we all should have freedom of choice and speech. I believe by clarifying the background behind the business name my customers can rest easy in knowing that my business name is uplifting, accurate and sensible.
I look forward to continuing to serve the Love me long time Squad and have a lot to consider moving forward with this business name. I have poured my heart and soul into my small business; it's my baby! I am treading very carefully to make sure that I take all necessary steps to be inclusive to everyone. I am in the process of contacting some experts to guide me further in the consideration of rebranding and a business name change.
